Athletic Trainer: Ric Fail AT



Coordinating the Athlete Health Care Program at Dublin Jerome is Head Athletic Trainer Ric Fail, AT. Ric has 31 years of athletic training experience at the collegiate and high school level. He joined the Dublin School system in 1996 as an assistant athletic trainer at Dublin Coffman High School and moved to Scioto High School in 2001. Prior to coming to Dublin, he was an Assistant Athletic Trainer/Clinical Supervisor at Otterbein College. He is a graduate of Kent State University in Physical Education with an Athletic Training concentration. Ric currently is a clinical site supervisor for Otterbein College and The Ohio State University Athletic Training programs and is an active lecturer for continuing education seminars for coaches and athletic trainers. Ric is also active in the Ohio Athletic Trainer’s Association (OATA) and has served on the Executive Board as the Central District Representative (2002-2004) and the District Board Chair (2004-2008). In May of 2001, he was selected as the OATA High School Athletic Trainer of the Year. In May 2010, Ric was recognized for his outstanding contributions to Athletic Training in Ohio by being inducted into the OATA Hall of Fame. Ric was also the recipient of the Golden Shamrock Award and a Community Champion Award in 2013 recognizing his outstanding contributions to Jerome and the Dublin community. Ric and his wife Theresa reside in Lewis Center and spend their free time spoiling their grandchildren, Jordin, Logan, Jenna and Olivia.

Athletic Trainer: Kristen Carey MS, AT



Starting her second year at Dublin Jerome is Kristen Carey, AT. Kristen was the Head Athletic Trainer at Olentangy Orange High School from 2013-2015. Originally from Lima, Ohio, she graduated from The Ohio State University in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training with a minor in human development. In 2013, she graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Master's Degree in Athletic Training. During her time at USC she worked men's soccer and baseball teams, then spent one year as Head Athletic Trainer at Mid-Carolina High School in Prosperity, South Carolina before moving back to Ohio to be closer to family. Kristen is a member of the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association and the National Athletic Trainers Association. She is certified in Graston Technique and is a clinical preceptor for The Ohio State University and Otterbein Athletic Training programs. Kristen also serves as a board member for the Central Ohio Men Against Prostate Cancer. Kristen and her husband Spencer reside in Westerville.

Team Physician: Tom Hospel MD


Dr. Hospel has been practicing family and sports medicine in Dublin since 2000. Dr. Hospel provides selected medical coverage for Jerome high school for all of our athletic teams as well as a weekly injury clinic conducted here at Jerome in which he sees Jerome athletes in need. His willingness to volunteer his time is vital in providing over 350 student athletes per season with outstanding medical coverage and care. Dr. Hospel has also served as a team physician for The Ohio State University Department of Athletics (1998-2004) and as a team physician for Worthington Kilborne (99-01) and Dublin Scioto High School (2000-04) prior to coming to Jerome. Dr. Hospel is the medical director of the PGA and LPGA tour anti-doping programs. He also oversees the physical therapy and strength and conditioning programs for the PGA and LPGA tour. Dr. Hospel's education includes the following degrees: BA in Political Science, Northwestern University (1991); Medical School: University of Wisconsin College of Medicine, Madison, WI (1995); Residency: Family and Community Medicine, St. Lukes Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI (1998); Fellowship: Sports Medicine, Ohio State University (1999); Advanced Education: MBA, Ohio State University Fisher College of Business (2004). In May of 2008, Dr. Hospel was recognized by the OATA as a 2008 recipient of the Team Physician Award for his outstanding commitment to Athletics. He lives in Dublin with his wife Shannon and their children Hayden, Jackson and Ava.
